Empowering Banyuwangi Students: Indodana Fintech Promotes Awareness of Safe Digital Finance

Targeting the younger generation as active users of digital financial technology, Indodana Fintech (PT Artha Dana Teknologi) took part in the financial literacy event “Next Gen Fintech” held at Aula Abdullah Azwar Anas, Banyuwangi State Polytechnic, East Java. Carrying the theme “Recognizing Green Flag vs Red Flag Financial Technologies”, the event was attended by 150 university students.

This initiative reflects Indodana Fintech’s commitment as a licensed fintech lending company under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) to support public education, particularly for students, on how to distinguish between secure and high risk digital financial services.

During the educational session, Stella Angelica, Legal Specialist at Indodana Fintech, presented insights on understanding fintech products and identifying Green Flag (safe & trusted) versus Red Flag (risky & harmful) fintech categories.

“We believe digital financial literacy is a fundamental skill for the younger generation as they navigate the rapid advancement of fintech. Students must be able to recognize legal and safe fintech products before using them,” said Stella.

She explained that Green Flag fintech typically: Is officially licensed and supervised by OJK,Adheres to regulated interest rates, fees, and penalties, Secures user data through encryption, Conducts collections professionally and ethically, and Has positive user reviews and clear company identity.

In contrast, Red Flag fintech products often: Operate without OJK licensing, Lack transparency on costs, Excessively access users’ personal data, Engage in aggressive or threatening collection practices, and Use fake testimonials and fraudulent investment schemes like Ponzi scams.

Beyond product differentiation, students were also educated on how to protect their personal accounts, such as never sharing OTPs, PINs, or sensitive information like their ID number or mother’s maiden name and were reminded to only communicate through official fintech platforms or verified social media accounts.

“The younger generation plays a vital role in shaping a healthy digital financial ecosystem. That’s why it’s crucial for them to first understand Green Flag fintech products and use them wisely,” Stella added.

Indodana Fintech hopes that initiatives like this will help broaden students’ awareness, making them more discerning and alert when engaging with the growing number of digital financial services. More than just users, students are expected to become digital financial literacy ambassadors in their communities.
